The primary objective of the Jersey City Housing Authority is to offer and provide qualified lower income families and senior citizens with the best opportunities for gaining affordable housing within reasonably safe, working neighborhoods and simultaneously promoting economic self-sufficiency for families, continued independent living for senior citizens and maximum accommodation for persons with disabilities.
 
The JCHA accomplishes those objectives by providing affordable housing through the following programs:

Accepting Applications for Some Units at Public Housing Developments, Section 8 Project-Based Sites & Mainstream Programs

Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program

The Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) Program is part of the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).  Through EHV, HUD is providing 70,000 housing choice vouchers to local Public Housing authorities nationwide to assist families

Applicant Portal

The Applicant Portal is a fast and easy way for applicants to access and manage their information.  This web-based system will allow applicants on JCHA waiting lists to review their profiles, update information, and check their status online, at any time.  Applicants need to create an account by registering at the following link https://jerseycityha.myhousing.com/Account/Login.  

SECTION 8 PROJECT BASED & 8-11 LOTTERY NOTICE

In November 2020, the Jersey City Housing Authority opened the waiting lists for Section 8 Project Based Sites and the 811 Mainstream Program via an online application. A randomized, computer-generated lottery selection process was conducted. Emails will be sent to everyone who successfully submitted an application, informing them of the lottery results. 


Emails will be sent to the email addresses used to submit the online application. If you applied and do not received an email by the second week of February, please send an email to applicantselection@jcha.us.


NOTE: Applicants placed on a waiting list(s) as a result of the lottery process will be able to access their application on MyHousing. Applicants selected for a waiting list(s) will need a confirmation number to access their accounts. https://jerseycityha.myhousing.com/Account/Login
